Recently, renowned tenor Zhu Zhirong visited GRAEFF for an inspection tour. Dr. Wu Hao, Global President of GRAEFF, warmly received Mr. Zhu Zhirong and his entourage. During the visit, Dr. Wu Hao and Mr. Zhu Zhirong conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the development of cultural, artistic and media sectors.

Accompanied by Dr. Wu Hao, Mr. Zhu Zhirong and his entourage toured the brand exhibition area and corporate showroom of GRAEFF. They learned in detail about the company’s development history, honors and qualifications, as well as its technological innovations in pressure sensing and automated control.

The honors on display in the showroom, including the Executive Chairman Unit of Jiaxing Hunan Chamber of Commerce and Member Unit of China Instrument and Control Society, together with a range of precision sensing products, left a deep impression on Mr. Zhu Zhirong and his team. Mr. Zhu Zhirong expressed his admiration for GRAEFF’s corporate spirit of adhering to technological innovation and pursuing excellence.

Zhu Zhirong

Zhu Zhirong, a renowned tenor, National Class-A Actor and vocal music education expert, was born in Wugang City, Shaoyang, Hunan Province in November 1979. He formerly served as Instructor and Party Branch Secretary of the Art Troupe under the Political Department of the Shanghai Corps of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force and is a member of the Communist Party of China. He has successively studied under Qin Zhongjian, Zhu Junxiong, Shi Lin, Li Guyi and other teachers. Holding a Master’s degree in Vocal Music from the PLA Art Academy, he was trained by the renowned tenor Wang Hongwei.

Work Experience

He graduated from the Vocal Music Department of Wuhan Conservatory of Music with a bachelor’s degree in 2002. In September of the same year, he was recruited as an exceptional talent by the Art Troupe of the Shanghai Corps of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force, where he successively served as Captain of the Vocal Team and Deputy Political Instructor. In 2006, he took office as Party Branch Secretary and Political Instructor of the Art Troupe, and graduated from the Music Department of the PLA Art Academy in 2016. During his military service, he was awarded the Third-Class Merit three times and, as Political Instructor, led the Art Troupe to be awarded the Collective Third-Class Merit three times.

Artistic Experience

He completed his undergraduate studies at the Vocal Music Department of Wuhan Conservatory of Music in 2002, and in 2004 pursued advanced studies for one year at the Vocal Music Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music under Professor Shi Lin. He graduated from the Music Department of the PLA Art Academy in 2016. He has studied under the celebrated singer Li Guyi and vocal educators Qin Zhongjian, Zhu Junxiong, Shi Lin, Chao Haojian and Meng Ling, and was trained by the renowned tenor Wang Hongwei during his postgraduate studies. He has successfully held numerous solo concerts and vocal recitals in Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha and other cities. His premiere works Households on the Water and Climbing Yueyang Tower have been included in textbooks of Chinese national vocal music.

Social HonorsHe is a member of the Shanghai Youth Federation, a director of the Vocal Music Committee of the Shanghai Musicians Association, ranked among the Top 20 of Shanghai’s “Top Ten Cultural Newcomers”, one of the “Three Outstanding Young Tenors of Hunan Origin”, and was named one of the Most Influential Vocal Performing Artists in the 60 Years of Hunan Literature and Art by the Publicity Department of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPC.

Artistic Characteristics

He possesses a pure timbre and a wide vocal range, excels at folk songs with rich ethnic characteristics, and can shift naturally among bel canto, pop and national (folk) singing styles. With a strong capability in performing original works, he has sung more than 30 original compositions and, in 2010, released the military song album Glory of the Guards. Tempered by his military career and rich artistic experience, he is adept at interpreting works with strong national flavours — his singing carries the passion and heroism of a soldier, together with reserved profundity. In 2015, he founded Rongyi Music Studio in Shanghai and served as a vocal tutor of the “Youran Academy” public art popularization platform, carrying out a series of public art popularization activities and making innovative practice in promoting traditional culture and inheriting classic national music. He is now a vocal music education expert, long engaged in vocal teaching and art popularization, and has trained and guided many professional vocal students and singers throughout his career.

Awards

He has won more than 20 awards at provincial level and above, with the main awards including:

August 2004 — First Prize (National Vocal Music) at the National Finals of the “Chinese Art Rising Star” Competition;

October 2007 — Silver Prize (National Vocal Music) at the Finals of the 2nd Yangtze River Delta Young Singers TV Competition;

January 2008 — Gold Prize (National Vocal Music), Shanghai Division of the 13th CCTV National Young Singers TV Grand Prix;

November 2008 — Gold Prize (National Vocal Music) in the first “Hunan People, Hunan Songs” Competition;

May 2009 — Gold Prize (National Vocal Music) at the Shanghai Selection of the China Music Golden Bell Award;

March 2010 — Silver Prize (National Vocal Music), Shanghai Division of the 14th CCTV National Young Singers TV Grand Prix; representing Shanghai, he won the Silver Screen Award at the national finals;

April 2011 — Gold Prize at the Hunan Division of the 8th China Music Golden Bell Award Vocal Competition, and was shortlisted for the national finals;

May 2012 — Silver Prize (National Vocal Music) in the First Vocal Competition of the 29th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival;

2013 — First Prize for Musical Performance at the Art Festival of the Chinese People’s Armed Police Force;

2013 — Silver Prize (National Vocal Music) at the 3rd National Vocal Competition of Higher Art Academies, representing the PLA Art Academy;

2014 — Excellence Award (National Vocal Music) at the 11th Vocal Music Competition of the Ministry of Culture of China.

Artistic Practice

In 2003 and 2004, he participated on multiple occasions in the large-scale gala Walking Together hosted by Shanghai Media Group. In 2005, he took part in the Armed Police Force Art Festival, singing Tales of the Police Camp. In 2006, he performed The Same Song at the grand gala Harmony Praise celebrating the Six-Nation Summit, and filmed the music video One Family Speaks One Language, which won the Third Prize in the National MTV Selection of 100 TV Stations. In 2007, he performed at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai International Tea Culture Festival and at the grand opening performance of the World Special Olympic Games. In 2008, he joined the grand performance at the Olympic Torch Relay Launch Ceremony and many large-scale performances at the Olympic Cultural Plaza. In 2009, he performed Spring Warms the Peach Blossom Land at the New Year Concert hosted by the Publicity Department and the Department of Culture of Hunan Province. In 2014, he gave the cross-genre concert Dream Rises in the East — Beautiful China: Concert of Luo Yu, Zhu Zhirong and Han Peng at the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival (Shanghai Culture Square), and in the same year performed at the concert Sun on the Mountain Ridge of the Three Outstanding Young Tenors of Hunan Origin. In 2017, he appeared as a guest at the solo concert of Youran Academy tutor Zhou Minxia. In November 2021, he performed award-winning original works at the “Hai Pai Ge · Ode to the Century” — 2nd “Voice of China” Shanghai-style Original Songs Exhibition Concert (Yangpu Riverside, Shanghai).
