The Origin of National Day

National Day is a legal holiday set by a country to honor the country itself. In ancient China, the emperor's accession to the throne and his birthday were called "National Day". The term "National Day" originally referred to national celebrations and was first used in the Western Jin Dynasty.

 Nowadays, China's National Day refers to October 1, the anniversary of the official founding of the People's Republic of China.
